abctools: Tip on how to use our shapebook tool.

abctools Tip: More than just a shape!

Our Shapebook and Border abctools offer many possibilities. Both are great for making fun books for students to write and color, but don’t stop there. Think outside the shape! These tools have dozens of uses that will enhance your student’s experience.

Here is just one idea! Make creative word walls using the shape patterns. Decide the size you would like each shape to be. You can place one to a page, two to a page, or four to a page. In each shape type a word to match your theme, bulletin boards, and word walls. Print the shapes on colorful paper or have your students color them.

TIP: View Smart Notebook files online. If you do not have access to a Smart Board, Smart Technologies has provided a ONLINE program called Smart Notebook Express. Anyone can use to view, save, and interact with SMART notebook files online. Try it out. No downloads. No cost.

A very busy summer

This summer we are putting the final touches for our new look. Our goal is to go live in August with our new homepage. Some changes have already been made. You now can view pdf documents before you download them using two methods. The first method is the "list" view. This lists the documents as usual, but you can view the pdf by clicking the "preview" link. This will bring up a small window showing you the document and its description. If there are multiple pages you can click the arrow to flip the pages. Very cool!

The second method of viewing is the "thumbnail" view. You can easily switch from list to thumbnail. The thumbnails give you a quick glance at the materials in a category. Put your mouse or cursor over the thumbnail and you will get a larger view.
